It's almost a year ago to the day that we had our first meeting about creating Above The Line. Only a few weeks later, the UK and just about every country in the world would be in lockdown trying to curb the spread of the Covid19 pandemic. It's a testament to this scrappy team of filmmakers that we've managed to create content, build a website and a community without hardly being in the same room together for an entire year! As we look ahead into 2021, we hope to bring you in person events, film screenings, and much more.
This month we're adding lots more content for you covering a range of topics, which we hope you'll find interesting and useful!

Once you've finished production you need to head into the edit. The editing process can be both a daunting and exciting time. So we made a video about what you can expect and how to make it a creative and rewarding experience.
As part of our focus on documentary in February, we had an exclusive prize giveaway for our paying subscribers. We're happy to announce that the Zoom F1-SP will be going to David Kenny. Congratulations David! We will be in touch with details on how to claim your prize.
This month we've got lots of content lined up including:
- A review of the London Short Film Festival. Simon and Jack discuss LSFF and which films stood out to them.
- An exclusive blog with Caitlin Bramwell, a producer from Gateshead who is making her first funding short film. Caitlin will give us an insight into the challenges and triumphs of making a short film with the BFI Network.
- A Q&A on film festivals. Send us your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on twitter @Abovethelinefilm_CB or on Instagram @Abovethelinefilm.cb Ask us about festival strategy, still photography, budgets, and navigating film festivals in general.
- An interview with the producers of Censor. Prano Bailey-Bond's film recently screened at Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival. We speak to Helen Jones and Naomi Wright about producing the Censor and surviving as film producers today.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and be part of this community. We want to help each one of our members make great films and forge a path for themselves in the film industry. Let us know what you think of the content on this website and send us your requests.
